From Family Hearth to Haven for Ambitious Women
For more than seventy years the yellow-ochre façade of 86A, Ashutosh Mukherjee Road has sheltered three generations of our family. Grandmother Bina Pani-whose name now crowns the building-raised four children here, taught neighbourhood girls to read under the mango tree in the courtyard, and believed every door should open to possibility.
When the city’s skyline began to stretch upward and career dreams pulled women far from their hometowns, we asked a simple question:
What if the warmth of a family home could travel with them?

In 2024 we paused family dinners in the old dining hall, rolled back heirloom carpets, and collaborated with local artisans to give the century-old structure a fresh heartbeat:
- Art-Deco grillwork was cleaned and powder-coated rather than replaced.
- Original Bengal teak doors were restored, now fitted with better locks for safety.
- High-ceilings stayed, but LED lights makes late-night study gentle on the eyes.
- The mosaic floor-Grandfather’s pride-was preserved tile-by-tile, then sealed for modern durability.
